Plan Your Trip to Fort Smith

If you’re like me and feeling like Destiny Blande is way overdue on receiving the execution she deserves for the Satin Strangler killings, then maybe Fort Smith is the place for you. Between 1873 and 1896 alone, 86 people were executed on the gallows in Fort Smith, Arkansas. On anniversary dates of executions, Fort Smith National Historic Site presents interpretive programs that include an overview of the trial, the federal justice system and how executions were conducted. But remember to bring your own popcorn. Here are a few coming up this June: June 26, execution of James Arcine and William Parchmeal, June 28, execution of John Thornton. June 29, execution of William Finch, Martin Joseph, and Te-o-lit-se. June 30, execution of Edward Fulsom and Boudinot Crumpton. Ah, yes, my friends, those were the days. Destiny Blande could use a little time at “Hell on the Border” with “Hangin’ Judge” Isaac Parker.
